Vickiey-Rhea-Photography

Beauty beauty all around us but not a drop to see.

The photographs I took were of buildings in providence with nice location or pattern. I Took them from a moving car. (I wasn't driving in case you were worried.) The distances of the shot vary but I would say about 50- 75 feet of space was between me and the main subject. All my pictures of photographs are straight on because when face with tall buildings most people look up instantly and just admire the height. These are the part of the buildings they would have seen had they been looking. All my photos incorporate line, shape, pattern and color. All have the repeating square windows which create implied lines and pattern. The first picture has the rail of the train station creating another horizontal line that is parallel to the windows. The sun is coming from the right and creates lined shadows on the pavement. Directly in the middle of the picture is a lamp light. Because of the lighting and building background, at first glance it looks awkward and out of place but the more you look at it the more it seems to fit and created a focal point that radiates out along the building lines to the rest of the picture. The second and third pictures (being of the same building) utilize color and pattern as well as line and shape. Both pictures are made of a few main colors; black, grey, yellow, white and blue.  In both the yellow stands out against the grey building and creates a path for the eye to follow while the black offsets the vibrant yellow. All colors are mirrored on the ground in the cars (white grey/silver) or in signs or on van details (ambulance). The features on the ground mirror and match the colors of the building as they play off each other and tie the picture together with an aspect of color and pattern.
