I chose to combine 2 and 3 pictures in my compositions. Two of the pictures I chose were from the section Landscapes.   I chose a picture of the vast frozen snow tundra pond and the lone tree. These pictures are related conceptually because they are of the same area and place and both have a lonely isolated feel to them.  The pictures were similar compositionally because they both had a large amount of negative space, however the barren landscape had more while the tree had better lighting. They were also oriented in different directions (vertical and horizontal). In order to unify these pictures I used the barren tundra style one as the background and layer the tree on top and moved it to the right of the screen where I turned up the opacity and changed the color settings to blend the edges.  The new composition conveys natural beauty and calmness. It also evokes feeling of loneliness and emptiness since the tree is alone.  I could improve this composition by maybe layering other pictures, trying different options or just knowing how to use Photoshop right. My second compositional picture has both of the pictures from the first but with a bright red converse shoe as the main area. The Shoe is related to the other two pictures because shoes are used to run on the road, sure, used to represent or go on a journey, They symbolize striking out and starting your own path, finding your way and discovering the world. Take your pick. It makes the picture less lonely and feel like it has a sense of purpose and direction. We are going on an adventure, a journey, a soul searching expedition through the barren tundra of life and leaving maybe the only things we know (aka the tree) in search for something greater. Something greater than ourselves. Its symbolizing the journey we all take to find out who we are and our purpose in life. Leaving home to go to college, Leaving College to go and live a life, leaving and old job for a new one. All journeys that we take over the course of our lives. That is what these pictures are.
