Avadon Emmulation

I admit it. I copied this picture. If this was an English paper or something it might be plagiarism but this is photography and it is an emulation. I was inspired by Richard Avedon’s photograph (the right). I thought it captured the essence of being young. A young girl on a beach standing on stilts in the summer. It just looked like something fun to emulate. The composition of the photo is both interesting and simple. It isn't cluttered with a confusing busy background but a peaceful beach. Although my photo is a little bit  different (mines taken in the winter in the middle of a snow storm instead of during the summer) I tried to copy the original composition the best I could.

Richard Avedon was an amazing photographer. He is known mostly for his fashion photographs but took many portraits and reportage photographs.  Avedon was a photographer for Vogue, Harper’s Bazzar and Look magazine. Richard is a minimalist photographer and although he made his living in advertisements for these magazines he loved portraits. Most of his portraits are on a plain black or white back drop.
